Online Therapy
Therapy sessions are offered online, providing flexible and accessible support for children, young people, and their families.
Online therapy allows children and young people to engage in sessions from the comfort and familiarity of their own home, helping them feel more relaxed and at ease. For many families, this also removes the stress of travel and makes it easier to fit therapy into busy schedules.
Sessions are thoughtfully adapted to suit the online environment, using play-based, creative, and conversational approaches to ensure they remain engaging, supportive, and developmentally appropriate.
Online therapy offers a practical and effective way to access support, wherever you are, while maintaining a strong, meaningful therapeutic connection.
Filial Therapeutic Support
Filial Therapeutic Support is a relationship-based approach that gently involves caregivers in the therapeutic process. With guidance and support, parents and caregivers learn simple, play-based skills that strengthen their connection with their child, enhance communication, and support emotional growth.
By creating intentional, child-led playtime at home, caregivers are supported to build a deeper understanding of their child’s inner world. This approach empowers families to turn everyday moments into opportunities for connection, helping children express feelings, work through worries, and build confidence in a safe and supported way. It also provides caregivers with practical, sustainable tools they can continue to use beyond the therapy space.
Sessions are offered online, allowing children and young people to access support in a familiar and comfortable environment.

Steps Therapy and Wellbeing
What we offer
A safe, nurturing, and supportive space where children and young people can explore their feelings, express themselves authentically, discover their strengths, and build the skills they need to navigate life with confidence. Alongside this, we offer a specialised parent support program designed to strengthen the parent–child relationship.
By supporting parents to better understand their child’s emotional world, respond with confidence, and build deeper connection through guided strategies and therapeutic insights, we create lasting change that extends beyond the therapy room. This collaborative approach empowers both children and their caregivers, fostering secure relationships, resilience, and a strong foundation for lifelong wellbeing.
Our Approach
We work alongside families with warmth, respect, and trust. We believe in strong, collaborative relationships and support parents and caregivers with practical tools and guidance, so they feel confident supporting their child or young person beyond the therapy space.
Why It Matters
For children, play is a powerful and natural way to process experiences and support healing. For young people, having a space to be heard and understood can be transformative in building insight, confidence, and emotional regulation

For ages 3 – 12 years
What is Play Therapy?
Through the natural language of play, children are supported in a safe, nurturing space where they can explore emotions, work through challenges, and build on their strengths.
Sessions are guided by your child, making therapy engaging and something they can feel comfortable and even excited about. At the heart of our work is a warm, trusting relationship between your child and their therapist, where they feel heard, understood, and respected.
Over time, many parents notice positive changes such as increased confidence, improved emotional regulation, and stronger connections with others.
Play therapy at Steps Therapy and Wellbeing is inclusive and supportive of all children, including those experiencing anxiety, trauma, behavioural challenges, low self-esteem, or developmental differences, offering a consistent space for growth at their own pace.
For ages 12 – 18 years
Therapy for Young People
At Steps Therapy and Wellbeing, we also offer supportive, developmentally appropriate therapy for young people aged 12–18. This stage of life can bring unique challenges as adolescents navigate identity, relationships, school pressures, and increasing independence.
Our approach moves beyond play therapy, using a combination of talk-based strategies, creative expression, and practical skill-building to support emotional wellbeing.
We provide a safe, respectful, and non-judgemental space where young people can explore their thoughts and feelings, develop coping strategies, and build confidence in who they are.
Therapy can support challenges such as anxiety, low mood, stress, self-esteem concerns, peer or family difficulties, and life transitions, helping young people feel more understood, resilient, and equipped to manage the complexities of adolescence.
