Offering online therapy sessions in QLD & ACT, providing flexible and convenient support for your family from the comfort of home.

Hi, welcome to Steps Therapy and Wellbeing – we’re so glad you’re here!

We understand that reaching out for support can feel like a significant step, especially when it comes to your child’s wellbeing. Please know you’re not alone in this journey.

We’re here to walk alongside you and your child, one step at a time.

At Steps Therapy and Wellbeing, we believe every child deserves to feel safe, heard, and understood. Through the power of play and connection, we create a nurturing space where children can explore their feelings, build self-esteem and resilience, and grow with confidence.

We also recognise that parents and caregivers play a vital role in a child’s emotional world. Alongside supporting children, we work collaboratively with parents to strengthen the parent–child relationship. Through guidance, reflection, and practical strategies, we support you to better understand your child’s needs, respond to their emotions, and build deeper, more connected relationships at home.

Children learn best when they feel safe, supported, and loved. That’s why we focus on creating strong, trusting relationships — between teachers, children, and families. These bonds form the foundation for confidence, curiosity, and lifelong learning.

Filial Therapeutic Support

What is Play Therapy?

At Steps Therapy and Wellbeing, play therapy is a gentle, child-centred approach designed for children aged 3–12 who may find it difficult to express their thoughts and feelings with words.

Through the natural language of play, children are supported in a safe, nurturing space where they can explore emotions, work through challenges, and build on their strengths.

Sessions are guided by your child, making therapy engaging and something they can feel comfortable and even excited about. At the heart of our work is a warm, trusting relationship between your child and their therapist, where they feel heard, understood, and respected.

Over time, many parents notice positive changes such as increased confidence, improved emotional regulation, and stronger connections with others.

Play therapy at Steps Therapy and Wellbeing is inclusive and supportive of all children, including those experiencing anxiety, trauma, behavioural challenges, low self-esteem, or developmental differences, offering a consistent space for growth at their own pace.

Therapy for Young People (12–18 years)

At Steps Therapy and Wellbeing, we also offer supportive, developmentally appropriate therapy for young people aged 12–18. This stage of life can bring unique challenges as adolescents navigate identity, relationships, school pressures, and increasing independence.

Our approach moves beyond play therapy, using a combination of talk-based strategies, creative expression, and practical skill-building to support emotional wellbeing.

We provide a safe, respectful, and non-judgemental space where young people can explore their thoughts and feelings, develop coping strategies, and build confidence in who they are.

Therapy can support challenges such as anxiety, low mood, stress, self-esteem concerns, peer or family difficulties, and life transitions, helping young people feel more understood, resilient, and equipped to manage the complexities of adolescence.

We are committed...

To creating a safe, inclusive, and welcoming space where diversity is respected and celebrated. We recognise and honour differences in culture, language, ability, identity, and lived experience, and are dedicated to ensuring that every child, young person, and family feels seen, heard, and valued.

To providing a space where every child feels safe and is safe, and we uphold child safe principles and practices in line with Australian Child Safe Standards to support and protect those in our care.
